Safety is an enormous concern, especially when selling your home yourself. Safety is the primary reason I recommend hiring a Realtor®.

With or without representation:

• Hide all personal, financial, and other wise sensitive documents and keep them put away for the entire duration of the sale.
• Remove personal items and photos.
• Hide prescriptions, jewelry, cash, and any other items that are small and easy to heist.
• Clean out drawers and cabinets that a potential buyer might open and keep any sensitive materials better hidden. It is a good sign if buyers open drawers and cabinets; don't scare them away or hand them anything personal.

The advantage to Realtor® representation:

• You don't have to open your door to strangers.
• Potential buyers are screened before they come through the door.
• No need to leave a hidden key (FSBO's do this!) to leave yourself exposed.
• A fresh set of eyes to see displayed personal information that you no longer notice.
• You don't have to have strangers in your home with you.
• You don't have to take all the calls from non-serious lookers.
• Have your agent handle paperwork properly to decrease any liability.
